Will Smith is an A-list actor/Artist, and sure enough, his house proves no less of him. His Calabasas house in which he lives with his wife Jada and three children: Trey, Willow, and Jaden spread across 25, 000 Sq. Feet in Los Angeles and cost $42 million.
The home took seven years to fully complete and to custom design just as Will and Jada wanted it.
Before getting into the insides of the house, the first thing you will notice is the beautifully curved front doors, which, apparently were salvaged from a fort in Nothern India. The first steps into the house lead you to a cowhide rug with leather borders.
Just as would be expected, Will’s and Jada’s house has various nature and African features. Most of the paintings, furniture and even the ceilings portray a somewhat African theme.
Will’s living room sure fits its name, “living room” as it is full of life. Suspended from the roof is a copper lantern from the 1930s and well arranged Brazilian rosewood chairs on the left of the room. As if that’s not full enough, on the right of the room are custom-made lounge seatings which have been upholstered in leather and beside them stands a small ever-green in-house plant. The foreground is covered with a beige silk area rug. Still in the living room is an overscale custom made sofa that fits between two overtowering columns.
Just like his living room, the dining place has also been custom-made to his liking, starting with the magnificent table which is covered in lacquered linen. Around it are Bronze-stapled chairs, arranged cautiously on a silk and wool rug. The dining room does not end at that. At the corner is a seating area with hand-hewn teak doors.
One thing you won’t miss to notice in the Smiths’ kitchen is the Samuelson capentry panel from the 19th-century Nuristani oak panels. The oak panels somewhat gives the kitchen a breathe of fresh air.
In Will’s and Jada’s suite lies a custom-made platform bed. Next to the sliding glass door are lounge chairs which surround a repoussé drum stool. An artfully hand-knotted-silk area rug covers most of the seating and bed area. The rest of the family, Trey, Willow and Jaden also have their bedrooms.
Not far from the master suite is a bathroom which is decorated with glittering cocoon pebbles, and which has an opening leading out into a private terrace.
The exterior of the house is also as amazing as the inside and a quick, peek on the outside will welcome you to the sight of a free-form pool that blends so easily with the natural aesthetics of the house.
The house sure depicts the renowned artist’s/actor’s taste.
