The follow-up to last year's hit spy thriller is due out in 2017 and has signed up Halle Berry and Julianne Moore.
It was the unexpected box-office hit of 2015, grossing in excess of $400 million internationally, giving British star Taron Egerton his breakout and ensuring a follow-up.
Now the 20th Century Fox sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service has a title.
Speaking to Empire magazine, director Matthew Vaughn said the spy thriller – which will see the return of Egerton and Mark Strong, plus new sign-ups Halle Berry and Julianne Moore – would be called The Golden Circle.
“I didn't know if I wanted to direct this or not,” the director admitted. “I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place and a new villain plot.”
While exact plot details haven't been revealed, The Golden Circle is expected to see Egerton's Eggsy travel to visit his U.S. spy counterparts The Statesmen, run by Berry, and take on Moore's villain Poppy.
Among the scenes mentioned by Vaughn is one in which the heroes are attacked by “a massive f––ing frankfurter.”
The film is slated for release in the U.S. on June 16, 2017.
