Hungary’s Son of Saul received the Golden Globe for best foreign-language film on Sunday.

The Holocaust-set movie tells the story of a Hungarian-Jewish prisoner who is forced to burn the bodies of those killed by the Nazis at Auschwitz.

Son of Saul‘s seemingly unstoppable awards-season momentum comes off the back of widespread critical success. The Hollywood Reporter‘s Boyd van Hoeij wrote of the pic, “[u]tterly uneasy to watch but strikingly and confidently assembled, the film is a powerful aural and visual experience.”

Son of Saul was not nominated for a BAFTA, as it wasn't eligible due to a delayed release date in the U.K.
